UmbralRaptor, that's the straight math yes, but the issue is the decision point; you have rolled 4 dice, either you got it or you didn't, and if you didn't you can roll one more die; it's not really relevant to the math or logic but in this case there is a cost associated with rolling the fifth die

so you have a 9.88% chance of rolling a 3, which would then allow you to roll the fifth die at a then 1/3rd chance; in the decision you do have a one in three chance, but overall you have a 3.29% chance

extraneous data; the way this system works there's I think 6 stats, and they'd generally be about 3~5, but a minmaxer might get as high as 8 and as low as 1; the stat indicates the number of dice you can roll on a challenge, 5s are a minor hit, 6s are a major hit, and for the penalty of temporarily losing a point in that stat you can after rolling choose to roll one more die
