<queqiao--> <Stupid Gay Furry> Is there anything I can do to mitigate poor performance with Principia besides just getting a better PC?
<queqiao--> Reply to "Kohetro: in the main window of principia "unpinned celestials", just unclick it"
<queqiao--> <Clayel> unpinning celestials is very good^
<queqiao--> <Clayel> most of the lag comes from displaying the trajectories, not the calculations iirc
<queqiao--> Reply to "Clayel: unpinning celestials is very good^"
<queqiao--> <Stupid Gay Furry> Sadly still doesn’t work
<queqiao--> <Stupid Gay Furry> I think I just need a new pc unfortunately
<queqiao--> <Stupid Gay Furry> Oh well, was bound to happen soon
<queqiao--> <sichelgaita> What kind of hardware do you have? I don't think that Principia requires a super-duper machine, but it seems that laptops are generally problematic, probably because they insist on trading performance for efficiency (e.g., P-cores and E-cores).

<queqiao--> <Butcher> One would usually assist off at least one of the gas giants.
<queqiao--> <kuzinat0r> How easy it is to calculate the gravity vector using kOS? I wonder if it's worth trying to take into account the body's ablateness for landing guidance
<queqiao--> <GoForPDI (less drag=more faster)> For getting into and out of orbit, I don’t think you need to worry about any more than straight gravity, trajectory propagation is where you need J2, J3, etc
<queqiao--> Reply to "kuzinat0r: How easy it is to calculate the gravity vector using kOS? I wonder if it's worth trying t..."
<queqiao--> <Butcher> Probably not. For atmospheric planets the atmosphere is a much bigger factor and for non-atmospheric you're probably better off just applying corrections en route (which will also account for engine flutuations).
<queqiao--> <kuzinat0r> You probably right. Engine fluctuations most likely have greater effect
<queqiao--> <Butcher> If you're doing closed loop guidance then it should be robust to oblateness and mascons.

<queqiao--> <sichelgaita> Yeah, you're in a world of pain. "i7" can mean many things, but in general it's (1) a tiny number of P-cores (2) a fair number of E-cores mostly useless for Principia (3) aggressive downclocking.

<queqiao--> <Stupid Gay Furry> I literally cannot plot interplanetary stuff, it’s either moon or bust
<queqiao--> <Stupid Gay Furry> Moon transfers are all my laptop can handle
